Got a fun combo for y’all today! We’re giving away my friend Jason’s financial/life book, “You Only Live Once“, along with a nice bamboo bracelet he created to accompany it. (You might remember Jason from his cross-country “financial wellness” road trips we’ve featured here before.)

I asked him about the backstory on the bracelet, and here’s what he said:

The bracelet is made of various stones and bamboo. I call these mybuhay which is a play on the filipino word mabuhay which means “live” and also used to greet people. Buhay means “life” and therefore mybuhay translates to “Live My Life.” The 7 stones represent my philosophy of balancing 7 areas of our lives. The bracelet is a reminder that we must devote as much time to each of them to achieve wellness: Financial, Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Emotional, Sexual and Social.

Pretty cool, right? I would totally rock that! Items with meaning behind them are so much more enjoyable…

And here’s a little background on the book: You Only Live Once: The Roadmap to Financial Wellness and a Purposeful Life by Jason Vitug:

You may think more money is the key to living the life of your dreams, but in reality, most people are unable to live the lives they want because they lack a clear vision for their life and are setting financial goals that do not align with what they truly value. If you want to rediscover your passions and define your purpose, “You Only Live Once” is your complete guide to understanding your money mindset and teaching you to manage money with a purpose—to live your dream lifestyle in this lifetime.

Want them?

Tell us which of Jason’s 7 areas of wellness you’re needing the most help in, along with which you’re currently excelling at, and we’ll select a winner by this time next week (Wednesday morning).

Here are the 7 areas again: Financial, Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Emotional, Sexual and Social.

I would say I’m personally doing pretty well in the Financial and Emotional areas of life, but not so much in the Physical and Mental ones. I haven’t been to a gym in years, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to work less and get a clearer mind!

Your turn! Extra credit if you have the courage to list Sexual on either side ;)

UPDATE: Thank you for sharing with us, everyone! The winner of the book and bracelet, as chosen randomly this week, is Kevin Oschefski. Hope you enjoy them, man :)

★ Rockstar Giveaway: “You Only Live Once” Book + Companion Bracelet

  1. Area of need – Emotional; work and career crap has gotten my stressed out to a near breaking point lately, I feel like my emotions driving me into being a train wreck waiting to happen.

Area of satisfaction – Physical; I’ve never had many health concerns but over the past few months I’ve started running and working out again. It’s hard to find the time but I’m up to running about 15 miles a week and about 2 hours in the weight room each week. This is the most physically active I’ve been since running high school track.

    1. J. Money says:

I hope the career stuff gets better, man!

  2. Courtney says:

I’d have to consult with my husband, but I feel pretty confident that I’m rocking the sexual. :) I also feel confident on the physical and financial because I’ve made all three of these a priority the last several years.
I suspect it’s my personality type at play- all of those areas are fairly tangible and/or measureable.

My areas of need are the mental and emotional. Right now, I’m waking up earlier to meditate and stretch. I even found a mantra I like!

I’m a work in progress but I’m working to progress. :)

  3. Holly says:

I am stronger than ever (at age 57) in the physical realm, as I’m running regularly and doing yoga twice a week. Of course this greatly enhances my spiritual and emotional health.
As a single woman, my sex-life is sadly non-existent at present time. However I feel I have a lot of positive energy to share in that area if the right person comes along.
The area that is suffering the most in my life is my financial well-being. I’m putting 2 kids through college with no help from their father (f/t disability d/t medical condition). I strive to live frugally but there always seems to be more month than money. It is really the only huge area of stress in my life as I strive to strike a balance in other areas.

    1. J. Money says:

You’re in a perfect place online to help out with the $$$ stuff! :)

  4. Matt says:

I’d love to win the book…it’s sound good!

Winning: Financial – Over the past 3 years, I’ve gone from 31K in debt to investing $100 PER DAY for retirement (my favorite way to track).

Losing: Physical – I’ve gained 20 lbs. over the last year. Just joined a gym to get back on the right track.

    1. J. Money says:

Oh wow, good for you man – you found your financial epiphany!

  5. Jean Cameron says:

Need help in Sexual! Just don’t take the time to slow down and turn off the day.
Excelling…. no where really but closer to physical at this time.

  6. stacey says:

Not doing as well at the moment as I have in the past, but if I had to choose I’d say financial and physical are going as well as can be expected right now. Areas of most need currently are social and mental.

  7. Carol says:

Wow…I have to say I’m struggling in 1/2 of these! Financially I think I’m doing Ok, but physical, sexual and social are all suffering! I definitely need to find balance in my life!

  8. Liz Rizzo says:

I spent 2016 volunteering and supporting Hillary Clinton for President, which made for a challenging, inspiring, and in the end, quite painful year. In 2017, I’d say I’m most excelling at the physical, and to some extent the financial. I’ve set reasonable goals in those areas and I’m meeting them. I always struggle to practice my patience, but in the end you don’t have much choice on that one. :) The areas I need the most help in this year are emotional and social. I’m in a period of transition in those areas, and it’s been challenging. Thank you for hosting this great giveaway – Love the bracelet, and I’m definitely curious about the book. <3

    1. J. Money says:

Thanks for participating, Liz :) (And for helping get the vote out last year!)

  9. Julie says:

Currently the financial and spiritual parts of my life are getting a lot of attention and doing well, but the physical and social are very lacking. Sometimes you can only focus on so many things at once. ;)

  10. PwedePadala says:

The areas I need to work on are mental, spiritual, and emotional. Moving in a different country has become a challenge and opportunity for me to value peace of mind, compassion (for all beings), and volunteering. If I will continue to improve on these areas the other aspects of my life and interactions to others will greatly improve. (Smile often; it’s contagious just like laughter.)

The areas I’m excelling are financial, physical, and social. I am ecstatic to be able to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with personal finance to others. My finance books are being read by my friends who are happy to learn more. Now we can discuss finance as part of casual conversation. No big deal. I’m attending more social events and recently, I watch TEDLive from Vancouver and have a photograph taken to be posted publicly. It’s spring so I’m looking forward to ride my bike as often as I can with friends and learn how to stop while roller blading.

    1. J. Money says:

Sounds like you’re on the right track! I always find moving brings such a breath of fresh air and adventure, even though it does become challenging in other areas. Thanks for sharing with us :)

  11. Jmol says:

Right now, I need the most help in the physical part of my life. I’m working hard, working long hours, raising two toddlers – super long days. And exercise has fallen off. I just started a “50 pushups a day” challenge last week and I’ve done 8 days in a row. It’s been fantastic, but long overdue.

    1. J. Money says:

Sweet! 50 a day is a pretty damn good habit to get into!

  12. Kristin says:

Doing well in the Financial and Mental areas. Trying to do better in the Physical area with more exercise – but I’m a foodie so the food side of the equation is a bit tougher!

  13. Carrie says:

Currently physical is one of my areas of strength. After two difficult years of post-surgery problems, I have had enough and have been pushing through the pain to get strong again. Financially, I am also experiencing greater willpower and will be saving more this month than I can ever remember saving before (or at least for a few years).

Emotional and sexual would probably be the low points due to extra stressors in my life

  14. Emily says:

I feel like I’m doing pretty good mentally – I just finished taking a college class this semester (already have a degree, this was just for fun!) and I’m overall pretty happy.
I need to work on the financial side as I just quit my part-time job that I have had for eight years to have more time for things I enjoy. So I will need to get my budget together and stick to it!

    1. J. Money says:

Love the idea of taking college courses for fun!!

  15. Kevin Oschefski says:

Area of need … spiritual. I used to be strong in this. I’ve become distracted with things that are much less important.

Area excelling … financial. I’m not rich, not even close but I’ve managed to build up some equity and being financially responsible is more top of mind then it has ever been for various reasons including this blog.
