What’s up, money lovers! Got a fun and random giveaway for y’all this week: a bag of shredded money from the Federal Reserve plus 12 free drink tickets from Southwest Airlines. Which you’ll need if you try to piece all that money together! :)

Big shout to Miss Mazuma for these, who rocks the blog MissMazuma.com at night, and is a kick-ass flight attendant by day. In fact, her blog is actually on our list of Up and Coming Blogs in our Directory, as it quickly became one of our favorites here at Rockstar Finance! You’ve probably seen her stuff featured here before, eh? The most recent one actually being her post on what it’s like to be a flight attendant :) Although ironically enough it was posted on someone else’s blog, haha…

So big cheers to Miss Mazuma for hooking us up today! And for being a huge supporter of our Community Fund here too from the very beginning… She didn’t want me to embarrass her here on the site, but the fact is she’s one of the most fun, and genuine, people within our community and deserves all the love in return. I mean, how can you not like someone who offers up free alcohol like that? ;)

Sooooo…. if you fly Southwest a lot and/or love the idea of holding hundreds of dollars in your hands (#truefact), answer these questions below and you might find yourself the new owner of them.

fed shreds bag giveaway

We’ll be awarding three prizes this week:

  1. The Fed Shreds bag of money
  2. Lot of 8 Southwest drink tickets (that expires end of the year, and into early 2018)
  3. Lot of 4 Southwest drink tickets (that expires next month: April 30th, 2017)

To win the shredded money, tell us a time when you might as well have shredded your OWN money by doing something stupid that lost you cash. And to win the drink tickets, tell us where you plan on traveling next, and hopefully on Southwest Airlines unless you know of an underground trading ring for drink ticket exchanges? (Which actually would be pretty cool, right? I mean, they have them for gift cards and other random things?)

The giveaway will end in a week, and as always we thank you for flying Rockstar Finance…

UPDATE: Congrats to Roy Largo @ Band of Savers for winning the shredded cash, K. S. for winning the first batch of drink tickets, and Koralea Velazquez for winning the second batch of tickets.

I’m actually headed to Fort Myers, FL area in early June via a Southwest flight. It’s a short getaway but also a fitness vacation – I’m taking some exercise classes while there. Taking the BF, who unfortunately is not doing the exercise piece of the trip. Maybe I can convince him when we get there!

  2. Robin Martin says:

We are flying Southwest to Memphis in August for the birth of our first grandchild – woohoo!!

    1. J. Money says:

      Woo – congrats!!

  3. Lish says:

We are flying Southwest to Cancun in September for fall break. Thanks to travel hacking we get to spend a week on the beach for just a few hundred dollars all in!

    1. J. Money says:

HAH! When I worked for the airlines we were always flying to places like that on our days off – huge perk to working :) (Although at that point of my life I didn’t have ANY money so we couldn’t do much when we arrived! haha….)

  4. Ahahaha, the Fed Shreds are a new one on me. The latest stupid thing I bought was a crochet hook. It was a small purchase, but as it turns out, I have FIVE of them at home that I had forgotten about. I purchased them with a gift card so it wasn’t the end of the world, but I’m still kicking myself.

  5. Joey says:

I’m traveling to San Diego to look for an apartment with my soon-to-be husband. He’s a recent graduate and got a job at a University there. I’ll be looking for a job as well….in one of the most expensive cities in the US. The wedding is in July and the move is in August and the drinks will be both a stress reliever and celebration. :)

    1. J. Money says:

Congrats!!! I know it’s expensive but it’s also sooooooooooooooooo beautiful!!

  6. Adam says:

Going to Cleveland for a 1 night vacation in June before driving up to Avon, OH for a wedding.

  7. Mr. SSC says:

I once cashed out a 401k. I looked at it as a win at the time because I came out ahead of what I put into it even after paying out taxes and penalties. HOWEVER, Mrs. SSC calculated that I lost out on $32k worth of growth using a simple 4% growth rate. Aye yi yi… Palm slap to forehead…

    1. J. Money says:

      Ouch. That’s a big one.

  8. Shannon says:

Upcoming Southwest flights to Salt Lake City in August to see the Eclipse and then to San Jose in September to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary!

  9. Koralea Velazquez says:

I’m headed to my mom’s in rural PA via Southwest on March 29th-April 2nd to help care for her as her health is declining rapidly.) : And then we’re planning a destination wedding in Mexico at the end of the year-anyplace that southwest flies direct is fine by us! Both of these situations call for a drink! Or 4 or…

    1. J. Money says:

Oh wow, sorry to hear :( And also congrats! (it’s really weird responding to two opposite pieces of news there haha….)

  10. Shane says:

Going to car camp the San Juan Islands and Olympic National Park in July, so if I win the tickets that are about to expire I’ll find some super cheap discount flight to who cares where (I love to Travel) they will not go to waste. Don’t really need any shredded money but I did own a BOAT Break-Out-Another-Thousand.

    1. J. Money says:

      Sounds like so much fun!

  11. Mike M says:

Currently researching somewhere cheap to go for a babymoon with the wife. #ImDrinkingForTwo

    1. J. Money says:

Awwwww congrats soon to be daddy :)

      1. Mike M says:

        Thank you! We are excited!

  12. Abby says:

My fiance and I are are flying Southwest from California to Michigan for our wedding in July! It’s a long flight and we’ll be celebrating so free drinks would be great! Plus, I somehow always manage to catch a cold after flying and alcohol kills germs, right?

    1. K. S. says:

Where is MI? We just moved from CA to MI in 2016 :) Beautiful place for a July wedding!

  13. K. S. says:

I have a dear friend who recently started her own photography business. She is a complete hustler, working her butt off to get her business off the ground (one of several jobs she currently has!) while her husband is in grad school. She flies Southwest to many of her client shoots (wedding, family, and editorial shoots). I’d be sending her these drink tickets right over to her for a well deserved drink!

    1. J. Money says:

      So nice of you!!!

You just secured one of the packets of tickets – congrats :)

  14. Laura says:

I’m actually flying Southwest later this year for the first time! The boyfriend is coming to my hometown to meet my extended family for the first time, so lord knows he’ll need some drink tickets. ;)

    1. J. Money says:

Nice! I don’t think I’ve ever flown them myself actually now that I think about it…

  15. Mr. PTM says:

The girlfriend and I are going to Belize in May…on Southwest! The Companion Pass is amazing!

  16. When I lived in Zimbabwe and the inflation rate was astronomical there were times when we would use some of the old currency to start fired or once or twice as toilet paper because we were out but had piles of valueless cash sitting around. Wish I’d have thought of throwing some through a shredder as well just to be able to say I’d shredded a few thousand dollars before.

But there’s also plenty of times that I’ve wasted money that would have been just as well off shredding. Like the majority of what I spent on my phone bill before I switched to Republic Wireless, probably 75% of the things that I bought while I was in High School, speeding ticket fees, and the list could continue on and on.

    1. J. Money says:

Oh man, haha… okay, hard to top that! You win the bag of shredded $$$$, sir!
