Some Exciting News

Major-ish announcement: I bought Rockstar Finance! I am beyond excited to take the reins from ESI Money and J Money.

Who Am I?

  • I’m ex-engineer living in the Bay Area
  • I’m a DINK (dual income, no kiddos)
  • Jack Bogle is high on the list of people I admire
  • My values in a nutshell
    • Be a critical and independent thinker
    • Strive for self-awareness
    • Be kind. Be empathetic
    • It pays more to be optimistic than pessimistic

Why Did I Buy Rockstar Finance?

  • Short version: I’m a longtime reader of the site and I thought it would be a rewarding project to take on.
  • Longer Version:
    • Rockstar Finance aligns with my interests nicely: I like finance. I like writing. I like curating high-quality content.
    • I’m always looking to add interesting projects to my roster.
    • I love the mission of showcasing Rockstar-worthy content.

What’s Ahead?

  • Email Newsletter
    • You’ll notice some changes to the newsletter today. I’d like to focus on adding more editorial content and changing up the format a bit. Hate the changes? Please let me know.
  • Design refresh
    • Expect a facelift to the site
  • Educational content
    • More educational content around economics, portfolio construction, asset allocation, etc.

Say Hi

Have suggestions for the site? Just want to say hi? Drop me a note at [email protected]

Let me know what you want to read more about. Here are some topics I’m brainstorming

  • Tax reduction strategies
  • Real estate investing
  • Budgeting
  • Income investing
  • Starting a side business

What stays the same? J Money’s philosophy (as captured here) will be kept intact “If it’s awesome, it goes on the site.”

Cheers,

Kat

Hi Kat,

Congrats on the purchase. While I’m excited for you, I’m sure I echo others’ thoughts when I say this is a surprise! Seems like just yesterday that ESI Money took the reins. This isn’t to say it’s a bad change… just a surprise. 😉

It’d be nice to know more about you. Do you have your own blog?

I’m also looking forward to the evolution of the site! Congrats again, and all the best with the transition.

I reckon that counts as major news! Many congratulations and best of luck with it! You’ve bagged yourself some serious personal finance online real estate.

Also who doesn’t love Jack Bogle right?!?!

Congratulations Kat.
What to write about:
Self-Directed IRAs (I use Sunwest Trust)
Passive Income
Investing with syndication
Benefits of having HELOC

Welcome and congratulations on this move. Looking forward to reading more, and different perspectives from a variety of different writers. Wishing you much success with your new challenges.

Congratulations, Kat! I love all the Rockstar is but I also love change and will be excited to see where it goes from here. I’m particularly fond of the education piece you mention.

All the best!

Kat,

Congratulations on your new ownership.

For future topics, I would love to see articles on how to generate income in retirement. Strategies when you have a nest egg to draw from but nothing that directly generates income like rental properties.

Thank you

It will be interesting to see the changes! I’ve been visiting this website for a looooooooooong time.

Educational content is awesome, more of it would be welcome.

I don’t really have content suggestion, I like the diversity. But websites do get bonus points from me when the majority of their post can be used globally and isn’t knowledge only applicable to USA. Something to keep in mind.

I’d say that is a major-ish announcement, congrats on the purchase of a great site! It will be great to experience some of the changes that you’re planning while also continuing to find great curated content from the community.

All the best,
DivvyDad

Rockstar Finance is the only site I make sure I visit daily! I liked the format today (short discussion of a major issue with further article links embedded). Looking forward to watching the site develop over time!

Congratulations, Kat!

I’m a big fan of the money quote that used to be in the Daily Newsletter, and appreciate the limited text so the readers can focus on the articles that are aggregated.

Look forward to seeing what you lang on.

Congrats Kat~ This is interesting news , but I look forward to seeing how the site develops! I am excited!
I am very excited for the educational content! Going along with this, I was wondering if job related education could be added such as passion vs money, changing careers for higher pay, etc.

Best!

Hi kat
Please come back to the 5 stories per day and do not add news. this is the place where i hide from news and mass media)
