christmas mystery box
What up, what up! Got another fun giveaway for y’all today, as part of our Weekly Giveaway Series. And we’re gonna have FUUUUUUUN today because you have no idea what’s in this box but WE DO! :)

I don’t know if any of you used to buy anything from Woot.com back in the day, but one of the things they used to do which was hilarious was sell these “bags of crap” for $5.00. You literally had no idea what was in them, but they’d sell out in minutes and only a lucky handful ever got their hands on one.

I was never one of those lucky few, so instead I was relegated to watching the threads of people posting up all the random stuff they received :) And boy was it random! A t-shirt here, a pencil there, an iPhone (!), a WAD OF CASH!!!! You literally had no idea what you’d get, but all the fun was in the mystery and something I’ve always said I wanted to do one day with my projects…

Well… today is that day!

Welcome to Our First Mystery Box Giveaway!

And since Christmas is right around the corner, we figured we’d get all fancy here and even wrap it for you :) It won’t arrive at your doorstep in time, but if your stars align you’ll be the lucky receiver of this a few days later.

What’s in it? How much is it worth? One of you will find out very soon :) But you’ll have to answer this one simple question below if you want to be entered to win.

What’s in this box?

empty mystery box

The person who gets the closest wins all the things in it. (Crap – now you know there’s more than one thing!) Leave your answers below by Christmas and we’ll announce the winner shortly there after.

I’ll give you one more hint – here’s something that’s in it:

Happy sleuthing :)

UPDATE: Giveaway over! Congrats to Samantha who guessed 4 out of the 12 things correctly! And to runner-up Danny P. who also guessed 4 of the 12 things making it a tie, and forcing me to use Random.org to randomly select one of you to be the winner and receiver of the box :) You all know me pretty well! Haha… These were a blast to read – thanks for participating everyone.

As for what was IN the box? Voila!

Oh J. To recap, you took a picture of a presumably empty box and asked us to guess “What’s in this box?” but you never specified a specific time associated with the question. You could have asked, “What will be in the box?”, “What’s going to be in the box?”, or even “What do I plan to put in the box?”. Instead we were asked “What’s in this box?” which implies that you are asking us to guess the current contents of the box that is posted in the picture. So, if this were all of the information that we had to go on my answer would have been: nothing but air.

However, later in the post you give us the hint that is stated in such a way that would imply that there is currently something in the box picture above that must not be able to been seen. You state, “here’s something that’s in it”. Based on this I would be left to assume that there is a fabric Gun ‘N Roses item concealed in the box that is pictured above.

Therefore, Your Honor, I argue that based on the explicit information provided by the plaintiff we must conclude that the question posed can only correctly be answered by responding that there are only two items in the box, 1) air and 2) a fabric article which bears a Gun ‘N Roses emblem.

    I rest my case.

p.s. – However, if you would like to add more than that to the box before you actually send it to me then I won’t complain. ;)

    • J. Money December 28th, 2016 at 6:09 am

Haha…. You definitely win for most creative answer, how does that sound? :) Your prize: more free air (yay!)

  35. Dividend Diplomats December 23rd, 2016 at 4:24 pm

Similar to Russian nest dolls, the box will have many smaller boxes each placed inside one another. In the final, smallest box, you will find a Guns and Roses bandanna, Slash’s top hat, and a picture of you throwing up metal horns in every city you have traveled to in 2016.

If none of that was included, here is a different angle. The smallest box within all the other boxes will have a key without a description of where the key unlocks, which will lead to a life time of adventures and mysteries. Sounds like the plot of one of those independent style Bill Murray movies.

    • J. Money December 28th, 2016 at 6:09 am

I think you just gave me an idea for the *next* mystery box, thanks ;)
